Of Gods and Mortals - Norse gaming day
« on: March 19, 2023, 09:10:23 PM »
Kev Moon of these here forums organised a Norse themed gaming day using the splendid Of Gods and Mortals rules.
There were ten players on the day and we each got in three games. Much fun was had including a huge Fenris, many Frost Giants and a plethora of Valkyries.

Very cool collection of figures on display and nice write ups. I agree, OGAM is great for finding random miniatures to add to your forces just because you like them!

Wonderful to see all of the lovely Bad Squiddo miniatures so beautifully painted. Seems like Freyja might be underpowered compared to the other gods.

Love the Volva on the moose.  I almost bought into that kickstarter & regret it now seeing her in action.
Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

No, she held her own - it's easy to think rules are mismatched in a game when actually it's just one player is better than the other :) The game against Sif was very evenly matched - they're both very similar gods.
Hel and Heimdal both have acess to Tremble Before my Might, which is potentially very powerful. Dean was able to get it off multiple times and then pound on my poor awed shieldmaidens. John was less successful and I managed to banish Hel a couple of times.
In the last game what I should have done much more was to use Freya to attack the (male) Vikings who wouldn't have been able to hurt her because of her beauty ability - that would also have meant they weren't able to pray to boost Heimdal. But I didn't think of that and Dean had a much better game plan than I.

The model is still available  - I didn't do the kickstarter, bought her at Partizan a few years ago

So no need for regrets :)

Live and learn, right? Next time.

As lovely as the giant boar is that Bad Squiddo makes, someone should make her cat chariot as a miniature.

Cat chariot? It seemed like a good idea, but proved impractical when you t was immobile 18 hours in every 24 due to feline napping patterns…
