28mm Plains War Ranges
« on: April 13, 2023, 01:44:46 PM »
Just after what is available in 28mm for the Plains War circa 1876 Battle of Little Big Horn era.

I am aware of Foundry, Artisan, Gringo, Galloping Major and Old Glory. Are there any others?

The Old Glory range seems the most comprehensive but no pictures on the UK website and the pictures on their US website are a bit rubbish. Does anyone have any of these figures and how do they rate them compared to other ranges.

Badger Games in the states also stocks Clearco, not sure if they have any in stock

Britannia and Dixon both have plains wars ranges. No clue on the Britannia ones quality (although likely to be chunky based on past experience), Dixon are short (old Foundry old west range compatible though) and a little quirky but can be used.

Warlord have the ex-Conquest Games Comanche - 3 packs of matching mounted/dismounted + a couple of characters (last I looked some were hiding in the Seminole section?!). Really nice figures.

Great Escape Games have US cavalry, plains Indians and Indian renegades packs in their Dead Mans Hand range, as well as a couple of usable figures in other boxes.

I am pretty sure I have seen Perry and Redoubt ACW figures pressed into service for Us forces (cavalry and infantry), and Company D does some Cherokee Mounted rifles for the ACW that might be usable as scouts

I have Foundry, Artizan, Dixon and OG. They are comparable in size but I think that Foundry is the absolute best in terms of sculpting. OG is the worst...
Not mentioned are Oniria that have a few sets

The Dixon and Britannia ranges are quite similar in stature and style - different to the foundry stuff, chunky as previously posted but certainly characterful.
