Having painted a couple of hundred board game miniatures (Conan, Nemesis and Cthulhu Death May Die) over the past 2 years I wanted to return to my wargaming roots. Wargaming has been really put on the back burner since we got a son 3 years ago (can't leave a set up miniature wargame and expect it to survive the curious fingers of our son. It really is much easier to just set up a board game for a few hours of gaming in the evening, but I do miss wargaming. Used to play a lot with my wife as well as she really likes SAGA among a few other and smaller skirmish games.
My pile of shame is mostly made up of By Fire & Sword 15mm stuff, and medieval 28mm plastics for SAGA. After some deliberation I thought I would begin by painting up every single mini in my SAGA pile of shame and fully finish that collection, expanding my Saxons and build up a decent Anglo-Saxon force. For this purpose, I had purchased both Gripping beast and Conquest Games plastic kits several years ago but only used parts of them to assemble and paint up a few units.
To kick off the project I also had a couple of metal character miniatures, such as King Alfred and a Viking Seer for my Viking army. The seer miniature can also be used as a Necromancer Warlord for SAGA fantasy (which is really fun and a surprisingly interesting twist on the SAGA rules that allows you to field random minaitures from your collection).
I also built, based and undercoated a bunch of plastic stuff -but there is little ponint in sharing them until they are painted. The idea is to share pictures whenever I paint up a playable unit / 1 point of troops.
