Flettner Helicopter.( 1st castings test fit and paint.)
« on: April 30, 2023, 05:48:41 PM »
Last week Simon and Mick. Sent me a couple of casting of a sculpt I did a while back( either at the start of just before the 1st lockdown.)
One to colour in,and one build just in the bare metal and resin.
I decided to make a slightly hybrid cockpit. With a little taken from several examples Simply because there is such variation between the prototypes, 30(ish)pre-production models, and the twenty five or so production models.
If it ends up being worth while then I'll go back and make a single seater version. As the cast versions centre of gravity is now a known.

(For the rivet counters There is a little defect in the fuselage alignment. Simply from a little over sanding  on removing from the mould. But it's still near enough to be worth colouring in.)

I'm glad you like it.
Next up is a proper Avro. Gyrocopter,or rather I'm 80% done mastering one. As it was better to start with the one who's centre of gravity needed some grown up thinking to project the centre of gravity in resin and white metal (and allow for slightly off wheel alignments . Incase people make mistakes building it. Or as in this case the resins are slightly over sanded.)

(As I've made enough cardboard ones like this, for people  ;D)

Interesting model.

Is it going to be commercially produced (in which case by whom)?

Smurf,
It'll be available at 1st Corps Miniatures.
Either in the Follies,or the Homefront range.( I know it seems odd but there's more than one Homefront.)
