Ancients - 20mm Square basing?
« on: May 21, 2023, 11:58:11 AM »
Are individually based 28mm figures on 20mm square bases still popular, useable?

I have some in the painting queue that I put on 25mm round, but now think I'd like them on the 20mm square.

As previously mentioned... ::) I only paint, don't game, so I have to bear in mind the saleability on Ebay of miniatures I might not want to keep.

Malcolm, what people mostly use in their games is the 25mm round base so i would base them that way. If you dont plan to sell them just go with what you like more.

Yes, round bases and sabots seem to be where it’s at these days. That said, there does seem to be a bit of a WAB revival going on and that has infantry on 20mm squares.

I still base mine on 20mm squares - it’s just the most flexible over different rule systems. Some figures are too flaily to fit 4 on a 40x40 admittedly but just increase the depth slightly and any overhang on a single 20 base can be trimmed

Depends how many you’ll be selling I suppose. 16+ unit and I’d go with squares, anything less and I’d go with 20/25mm rounds.
cheers

Thanks for the input.

I think there is at least 18 so I'll probably go with squares - if only for the variety.
