Nice pictures, man! You've got some great atmospheric ones in there. I particularly love the shot of your bastard trooper one-shotting my poor innocent chiseller.

I still reckon 2 and a half hours for a learning game is a great start! It'll be quicker now we've got the basics down.

You decided what to do with the gear you stole yet?

EDIT: Oop, turned the page. Here's your pictures again, for anyone looking:

Glad you like them, they came out remarkably well. Guaranteed as soon as I try to take pics of my grouped projects they will look like they’ve been dunked in cake and sprayed with fog    :`

I played my first game of Stargrave with my good friend Scarper and really enjoyed it!  Plenty to keep us both engaged and interested, and a joy playing in actual painted terrain (which Scarper should post pictures of in his thread :D :D ).

Captain ‘Treg’ Sutter and the crew of the Kerry Denk made their way into the outskirts of an abandoned settlement looking for easy pickings, only to run into unknowns with a similar agenda. A hasty data hack by Sutter revealed the only other vessel in the vicinity was some pathetic rust bucket called the Fisher King.

Both sides were wary of engaging initially but this did not last. Trooper Kark and the potentially mislabelled bot M1ND-R ultimately claimed several takedowns after an abortive attempt at close combat by the self proclaimed expert Cap’n Treg and his two cronies saw them assertively repulsed by a lone Fisher King crewer!!

I look forward to the next game - all was done and dusted within 2.5 hours including set up and post game.

Hellooo!

@Scarper I may or may not have invested in some better gear for the crew, pending our next meeting...  ;)

Hello everyone!

It's been some time since I posted. I have had a bumpy 16 months. I got a new job that I thought was the culmination of much graft and effort on my part, but it turned out to be a toxic cesspool for my mental health. I've never felt that unwell in my 42 shiny years. I ended up getting fired (they were looking for an excuse, and because I was with them less than 2 years I couldn't lodge unfair dismissal). I am much happier now and my enthusiasm for the hobby is reignited. Ha!!

I would like to share some more of my Battlefleet Gothic ships with you. If you've seen pictures of them before then apologies. I have recently found my love for this game returned with vigor - I just love tinkering with wee space ships!

Here is the flagship for my Ork Reaver fleet, the Carnage. I was tinkering with this model for literally years, slowly adding more and more junk to the hulk until I was happy enough to paint it. Painting was primarily several different spray cans, some metal drybrushing then numerous weathering powders.

That is a 60mm flying stand. I will get more pictures up as a scale reference with her sister ships.

Parts used were plasticard, pen lids, the IMEX Chemical Plant set from years ago (LOVED that set - the bulk of my Ork fleet cruisers are built from it!), multiple guns from GW and old kits.

That Is a beautiful ship you've bashed together there. Really puts me in the mind of a 40k version of Sean Patten's (Necromundicon) Starcrashers ships, and that's a very good thing.

It reminds me a bit of the Red Dwarf, from the series of the same name - a very cool model cobbled together from… stuff. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the fleet!

Eilif - Thanks so much, mate. The mighty Eilif complimenting one of my scratchbuilds?  :o I am a big fan of all of Sean Patten's stuff! He built some pirate ships with skull heads that partly inspired my Ork stuff. Man has a brilliant eye for bits.

Pattus Magnus - Thank you so much, I take the Red Dwarf comparison as a big compliment.

Here's some pics of lighter cruisers Vampire and Goblin (lol). Vampire is built out of two BFG Chaos cruiser bellies slapped together. Goblin more IMEX, bits and pen lids.
The name plates on my ships come from a company called Versatile Terrain. They do fun stuff with name plates for miniature bases.

Thank you Pattus 🙂

I took a semi decent in-progress picture of some recent escort sized ships for BFG/ Full Thrust. The armed freighter is from Brigade Models and it’s a lovely lump of metal. She is the home of my Stargrave crew, the much maligned Kerry Denk.

The two escorts are Soryllian frigates from Firestorm Armada that have been kitbashed with parts from Imperial and Chaos ships plus parts from Vanguard Miniatures. I wanted to represent two old hulls that have been hastily rearmed to provide protection on convoys.

Ragsta's Hobby Bag - Zombies, and lots of 'em
« Reply #22 on: November 01, 2024, 12:04:23 PM »
Hello everyone. I thought it would be fun if I showcased my zombie horde, albeit one day late for Halloween. I started building this when I discovered the rules for All Things Zombie. Heck, I even had a blast with a solo campaign years ago, and tried to recreate my neighbourhood using cardboard houses and toy cars :) These little gribblies have been many years in the making. Always fun to paint some zombies as a palette cleanser!

The models come from Mantic Games, Wargames Factory, Heresy Miniatures, Cold War Miniatures, Checkpoint Miniatures, Studio Miniatures and some kitbashed nonsense using the old GW models. Oh yes, there's a Gollum in there too cos he came with a bunch of other stuff and needed a home :P They are magnetised - I found a wooden box which I glued some ferrous sheeting into to store them all!

Roughly 160 Zeds:

Thank you everyone for looking at my pile of junk  :)

Your horde trounces mine -- I have only 74. My friend, who I got interested in playing Zombie RV with his kids, is adding to his force. When he exceeds 74, he will take the Zombie Lord title from me. However, we bow down to your overlordship...!  lol

Great shamblers, all those dfferent shades of rotting flesh look good, in a putrid kind of way.

Thanks so much. I am very fond of my little shamblers.

Haha yes they do - I ended up going for a variety of different greens, browns and greys then a drybrush of tan/ cream followed by a wash. Everything worked because of the gribbly nature of the Zs. It was also a good way to experiment with different base colours and washes for other projects.

Nevar! We are all equal in Undeath. I need to get these guys out for gaming again. I vaguely remember one solo game with an absolute mob around a lorry trailer - we took them out with an anti tank rocket aimed at the fuel tank   o_o

Ragsta's Hobby Bag - Xenomorph Tyranids and Anarchic Mecha
« Reply #28 on: November 14, 2024, 01:16:22 PM »
I was talking to Daeothar about Tyranid Xenomorphs the other day and his own project inspired me to share mine. This year I have painted 80 Gaunts with ‘Lurker’ heads from Heresy Miniatures. I managed to add 9 swarms of Rippers and 10 Spore Mines.

I currently don't have any larger gribblies to lead them. I am thinking about getting some models that have similar head styling and it's proving difficult to find anything. 3D printing has an odd shortage of Xenomorph heads!

I also have three pseudo dreadnoughts that deserved some air time. The meaty boy is a model from Khurusan Miniatures. I am a fan of Robocop 2, just saying. I built two Tau bots with some minor limb tweaks and the same paintscheme - I don't do Tau but I like mecha so they can all hang out together thank you very much.

To keep these bots company I thought I should share an ooold project of mine. Er I think I've had this build for nearly 20 years now?? It's a Spider Tank built from Bionicle parts, a turret from Blood and Skulls and the body from GZG Games. They don't do them anymore but I think a company called Demonscape does. The railgun is actually a lamp post from some Mantic terrain pieces - I used it because rule of cool. This big chonkus would benefit from an updated paintjob with some grimy weathering and maybe one day I'll do that. I did add some highlighting to the turret lenses after this pic was taken :) The Raptor is there purely for scale, maybe one day my forces of Anarchy will get some coverage..

Lovely work.  That is some very old-school GZG at the center of that quad walker there.

Can't believe I never saw those BFG ships up-thread.  Those ork scows are excellent.
