Warlord China: Trouble in Zhili, 1924
« on: July 08, 2023, 11:00:18 PM »
This Saturday, the Colonial Boys Club were playtesting another one of my Warlord China scenarios - "Trouble in Zhili, 1924 (for an eventual scenario book).

General Background: Forces from the Zhili Clique are trying to steal gasoline from the Standard Oil Company storage facility that lies across the border in Fentian Clique territory. A good blast of a time, as half of the trucks laden with drums of gasoline did not get off the table, but caught fire, along with half the village. Fentian win.

Not sure how to attach photos that do not end up upside down!

Upsidedown photos huh? Are you from Australia?  ;) Try cropping them first, I find that helps.

Sounds like it was fun time would love to see it!

Yes, fun to playtest. First game, the center of the village caught fire, and so did a fuel tank truck (driver bailed out, and jumped in stream), which eventually exploded and caught the largest building in the village on fire. A fuel truck lost the driver (shot while driving by the intersection) and it crashed, blocking the road.

The second playtest (this past Tuesday) saw a totally different result, where nothing caught fire, and more trucks with stolen fuel got through. A nice mounted bandit vs. Chinese cavalry clash towards the end, wherein the Chinese cavalry won, chasing off the bandits.

Onward to the next scenario playtest.

Sorry I'm kind of new to this subforum... what rules are you using?

I playtest with two sets of rules. My own colonial type ("Colonial Warefare", modified for BoB), yet to be published, and of course Setting The East Ablaze (STEA) by Steve Langan. Which, btw, is in final edit for a 3rd edition. Stay tuned.
