Painting Alien Greys
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:16:08 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm in need of some suitable suggestions in painting Brigade Games Alien Greys. What colours would you recommend an especially their weapons both hand and heavier?

It's not a genre that I've come across before, but I would be very greatful for some suggestions.

Thanks,

Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

Based on examples that I've seen (rather than painted myself), I think that the Brigade Games "Greys" look better with a greenish skin tone and a silver "tin foil" effect on their suits. If you went that route, then I would paint their weapons in a contrasting color- In a gold or copper tone if you wanted to do them as traditional metals or in another color if you wanted them to look like a high-tech plastic.

I've only ever painted 15mm greys, Helen, but I kept it simple and just used two colours for each part: dark grey & light grey for the skin; gunmetal & silver for the suits; gold-dark red mix & gold highlight for the fittings and green-gold mix & gold highlight for the weapons.  The blacks are just flat.

Thank you guys for replying with your suggestions. I'll take this all on board when I commence painting.

Yes Peder, commission work. Just finished some Pulp/RCW/WW2 and ACW in 28 mm. Working on some Hour of Glory, Vietnam and fantasy at the moment.

I like a khaki colour for "greys", ala X-COM: Enemy Unknown. Speaking of which, I've yet to put paint on a single one of mine.
Everything is better with lizardmen.
