Mean streets of Vienna circa Anno Domini 1666
« on: July 25, 2023, 04:23:19 PM »
I present the bulk of the figures produced for the game AD 1666. Having backed the Kickstarter years ago, I finally had the motivation to paint them up. Experimented with some zenithal priming and quick paints, which a big departure from my usual technique. That said, I feel like it worked well for these sculpts. Cheers!

Intrepid Poles lead by a drunk mastermind.

A sort of Viennese Illuminati crew.

Three Musketeers posse.

Emissaries of the High Porte.

Blood Moon expansion - Hungarian characters, werewolf and villagers.

Denizens of darkest Vienna.

The Night Watch.

Thugs and miscreants.

Monster hunters and mercenaries. (Got a few of these left to do)

Magicians and monsters.

If I may ask, what exactly is quick paint. I have heard reference to this a few times but don't know what it is.

Thank you all. It’s been a very enjoyable ‘side project’. If the gameplay is good enough it may even motivate me to paint some Dwarven Forge city/village and similar type stuff in the lead pile to replace the game boards and play on a 3D tabletop.

Inky- by quick paint I’m referring to Contrast Paint or something like it. They basically function like a glaze, so are somewhat-to-very transparent. Army Painter Speedpaints account for most of what I painted here, with some colors, like flesh and white tones having been painted with conventional hobby paints.

If I may ask, what exactly is quick paint. I have heard reference to this a few times but don't know what it is.

Great looking figures, and the paint jobs work really well on them.

Superbly done, Abu 👍.

Wonderful paint work on those - inspirational stuff as already mentioned.

I have a number of these models in my ‘pile of opportunity’ to be used as character models etc. for my TYW armies.  They are lovely sculpts.

I may have to pick up more of them after seeing your finished work  :D

Very nice painting. I've been tempted by the French musketeer figures in the past, but have not yet succumbed.

Thanks all. Gaming it for the first time this weekend - hopefully it’s as fun to play as it has been to paint! Some bonus characters for the Saturday debut.
