Beautiful painting. You're lucky to be able to get hold of Avanpost figures at the moment, for obvious reasons. Out of interest, what are you using as your source for details of the uniforms?

Paul ,you can buy avanpost by https://www.ilminiatures.com/c/de-en-fr-es-it, not sure if he sells metal too, but you can ask him,
Paul ,i´m intresting about TYW many years, have a small libery at home, visited many museums and battle fields, here in germany, that is the first source,
and... there was no uniform at that time in 17 century, only military dressing, so if i paint leather, for example, i do it natural, no black, wheech was popular later, and,of course, i´m trying always to paint figs nice, at least we are playing with them...
i did ,for example, by these figs sashes orange-because swedish-green,grey,orange, but never red,
and the same colour i´ve used for laces, although, who knows how it war really?
Well, thanks once more.

Many thanks for the information. these figures are really inspiring. Because IL Miniatures are Russian, I had assumed that their figures were not available to me here in the UK.

Hi Paul, the site link above is to a store, I think, based in Germany.  I have ordered from them and they came through fine, although a little bit longer than a UK to UK delivery. I’ve only ordered resins - not sure there are metals on the site.

Hi Andy,

Ah. My mistake. Sorry. Thanks for clarifying. I'll take a look. In the past I've bought Avanpost figures direct from Oleg at Avanpost or from Mezzer's Miniatures in the UK. I have assumed that the first of these is currently out -of -bounds, and last time I looked Mezzer's had hardly any TYW figures on offer. I'm in two minds about their figures. I really like the sculpting of the resin figures but I find them just too fragile. The metal figures look to me to be somehow thinner than the resin ones. I don't know why and it may just be my imagination.

Hi Paul,

The metals seem quite similar to the resins size wise. I would prefer metal for robustness but I'm not sure they are still producing the TYW range in metal which is a shame. I suspect a cost issue though as is affecting most manufacturers.

You have to be super careful with swords and scabbards on the resin figures.  I replace breakages with substitutes from the Warlord plastic range where possible.

They have some lovely small artillery pieces - wall guns and an experimental multiple barrelled thing - I think based on an example in a Swiss museum.

Hi Andy,

Thanks. My issue with the resins is that after I've had a figure painted and, possibly, converted, I have quite a lot of money invested in it and the last thing I want happening is for part of it to break. Using Warlord plastic bits is a good idea. Presumably one could also use TAG metal bits. Certainly their figures are very tempting, and Baner's beautiful painting shows just how good they can look.
