Magister Militum for sale
« on: July 28, 2023, 06:42:05 PM »
I saw a notice posted by Magister Militum on another forum that they are selling the business. It seems that balancing multiple commitments became too much to manage. They will be shutting down casting their own lines on September 26. No word about any buyers for the company’s product lines.

I really like them as a company. The website is nice and has an excellent and varied selection when it comes to non-toy soldier items (things like buildings, carts, civilians, animals etc). I’ve bought quite a lot of buildings from them.
My armies:
- Henry VIII's army (WIP) 15mm
- Ancient Germans (28mm)
- Ancient Belgae (Gauls with German allies) (28mm)
- Massilian Greeks (Greeks and Gallic mercenaries/subjects) (28mm)
- A few EI Romans (28mm)
- Handful of WW2 British (15mm)
- A load of old 1993-1999ish Warhammer Orcs and Goblins

Just seen this and what I want is already out of stock!!

Does anyone know how to get Oddzial Osmy figures direct from Poland to the UK? Or are we going to have to wait for months until there's a new distributor in place?

Lots of good stuff getting harder to get   :(

Anyone got any 3mm SA-2 Guideline minis going spare???

Well, hope this doesn't impact the order I just placed last night (or was that early, early this morning?).  Already have the charge against my card!

As others, lots of stuff from that source.  Hope someone picks up the company and keeps stuff available at reasonable prices.  And maybe works to improve the website a bit.  Yes, it works, but it can be daunting to wade through such volume to find what you want.  At least the search algorithm is pretty good.

Devastating - I've just gotten into 10mm again!

I wonder if their ranges do get split up. Selfishly I'd love their fantasy 10mm & 15mm to end up at Eureka so I can buy locally. A man can dream, eh?

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. They have so many ranges I can't see anyone picking up the whole lot. And some ranges maybe won't be viable on their own so a risk the popular ranges get picked up and other fall away...

I've just grabbed some Bauda stuff to top up projects.

I hope it all works out. They'll be a big miss on the show circuit and I've always had excellent service from them.

A

Just FYI, heard from MM about my recent order and was advised all would be shipped and that only items available should be listed on their site.  Order already left England per update email so I should have in a week or so if not sooner.

Do we think they'll find a buyer? Or at least split up the ranges? Their catalog is incredibly hefty, I can't imagine a world where these figs aren't for sale somewhere :(

Any idea if they are still trading, seen a couple of sets from their line I'm interested in but is it risky?

I thought they stopped trading at the end of September. I looked at their website a few weeks ago and the stuff I was looking for was no longer listed. If items you are interested in are still there and have a purchase button, they might be selling the last stock. It couldn’t hurt to send an email and ask. As fad as risk goes, they had a reputation as excellent folks to buy from (certainly were on purchases I made). I doubt they would keep your money if you ordered something and they didn’t have stock anymore to complete the order.

They are definitely still trading, just not casting.

I’ve bought a couple of orders from them (GHQ and Hallmark) since they announced closure (and stopped casting their own lines) and I got everything very promptly - I’d imagine if it’s available to order on the site they’ll get it to you, and if not they’ll not be a problem to deal with - always helpful and efficient in my experience.

I shall miss Magister Millitum: they offered a great range and are excellent people, one of the few stands I’d be guaranteed to buy from at every show I went to. I hope they find a good buyer and MM’s good name and service get to carry on for many years.
