Still no Royal Fencible Americans... atleast the end is in sight. Managed to finish these off today:

Another hunting shirt guy... again, probably not worn up this end of the colonies, but exercising my artistic licence lol. (I have decided that, whilst not historically justified, some patriot riflemen are too iconic not to feature at some point)

You've some good looking figures there!

Thanks.  We just might take you up on that.  Our plan is 2 nights each (in order) in Saint John (where we'll be on our 25th Anniversary!), Halifax, Louisbourg, and Charlottetown...
Should be splendid! I can comment a little of Halifax too, but sadly haven't made it to Louisburg or Charlotte Town yet

*Finally* got the first of my Royal Fencible Americans finished (converted Perry continentals), along with officer, sergeant and a couple of figures in camp. The raggedy fellow in bits of uniform is an attack of artistic licence - the regiment was founded by Joseph Gorham (younger brother of Gorham's Rangers Gorham, and an ex-ranger himself). Given the unit was initially raised without uniforms, I have taken the opportunity to add some 'scouts' to the mix (yes my youthful diet of Sharpe is showing through). A few more privateers, a couple more riflemen who wouldn't have been there, a patriot officer and militiaman, and a few Pulp types for scenarios (that priest is probably a century too lste for a start...)

Your figures look good so far!

And we're back from our trip.  We saw a couple sites related to the AWI - the East Blockhouse in Lunenburg and Fort Beausejour near the New Brunswick/Nova Scotia border.  Very interesting.  We also did the Citadel in Halifax and the Fortress at Louisbourg...

Sounds like you had a good time! I haven't made it to the Lunenberg blockhouse or Louisbourg yet, so you're doing better than me on local history visiting!

And it's been almost 10 months since my last post.. Oops!
The butterfly of my attention wandered away for a bit, but its back now - possibly even stronger than ever! Had two shows at Kings Landing Settlement (an open air musuem) with DeLancey's Brigade that helped rekindle things.
Managed a few models in the last month or so,  mostly more militia, civilians and privateers. More Fencible Americans are on the paint desk and some of John Glover's Marbleheaders/14th Continentals are in the que.

And yours truly as 2nd Battalion DeLancey's brigade in their 1783 uniform...

Terrific project, nicely done!

I spent some time in Fredericton, as an armoured recce officer - back when the Combined Combat Arms School was there. I understand all amoured training is now in Wainwright, as the tanks have consolidated there. Haven’t really kept up with it - the state of the CAF is much worse than in my day.

Tremendous amount of history out east. Nice to see it getting some attention.

Thanks- and just seen your post on the Things from the basement thread lol.
Lots of history for sure, 1604 onward on the Saint John river.
I drive past the sites of Fort Nerepis, Fort LaTour and Fort Howe on the way to work, and can see the Martello tower and site of Fort Frederick! Lots of locals don't know any of it which is a real pity. For the AWI we also get to borrow the history of the Loyalist Regiments settled into the area ;-)

Not sure how much armour is at CFB Gagetown, but we often get assorted wheeled AFVs trundling down the 102.

Back in “my day” it was THE place to see armour. All the Leopard training was done there. And the only Canadian armour was in Germany. Today… it’s all gone west. There is so much competition from the three regular force regiments, and the one that won is the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). The Royal Canadian Dragoons (Petawawa) and the 12ème RBC (Quebec), have been relegated to a reconnaissance role, again. A sad state for the CAF and RCAC.

The vast majority of tanks from Gagetown are now in … Ukraine.

We visited the Fortress a few years back. One guy was giving period dance lessons. He identified himself as Monsieur Bigot. He was surprised that an American knew his character was the famously corrupt official. Then he enjoyed playing the role in English.

And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Nice collection you are building - even Daniel Day Lewis as Hawkeye making a guest appearance as a "Canadian"(?).

Actually, the Royal Fencibles are the odd men out since all the rest could be used for all sorts of 'could have been' scenarios ranging from your intended landscape all the way south to the Caribbean Sea.  And, of course, if the scenarios are "make believe" then you could have those Fencilbes, too, I suppose.

Thanks - and yes, Hawkeye is a little out of place, but close enough for my purposes. The good thing about the Royal Fencibles is that, in their white faced green, they can pass for a whole number of loyalist units in 77 - including but not limited to DeLancey's Brigade
