25mm German Kamerun Schutztuppe

25mm Falcon conversions for German Kamerun and infantry could be  used for TOGOLAND Polizeitruppen. I used Falcon GSWA Askaris(of which none existed) filed down the fez's.

Hi Juergen.  I think we've met on a few other forums.  I am currently converting and painting 6mm figs for WW1 Cameroon. It is often overlooked, but offers a lot for gamers.  Jungle fighting with lots of ship and ship to shore action in the South.  And then the wide spaces in the North with both cavalry and mounted infantry getting more scope. British, French and Belgian forces can all be used vs the Germans. A fascinating campaign to research. Does anyone have links to any French or Belgian sources available on the internet?  Ghurkha figures in the small round hat can be converted into German, French or Nigerian askaris.

Durban Gamer,I don;t know of any Allied scources. Most of my infrmation came from German scources.,lke ''Students'  book ''Kampf um Kamerun''. Maybe try GERMAN COLONIAL UNIFORM'' website ,by Chris Dale ,which will give ton of uniform plates and photos ,plus links to other sites.

Thanks for sharing that sources with us Juergen ..I really like that period that I  also researched  and hope to game in 20mm ..some picts are totally new for me and, indeed, useful for a Wargame approach.. above all the last one with, on the left, a machine gun manned only by white schutztruppe nco s or volunteers sporting, probably,  a kaki uniform and a SW brown or grey bush hat with the distinctive colour for Kamerun/Togo/West Afrika (I suppose red)

Greetings Italwars - our paths have also crossed a few times due to similar interests!  Juergen, thanks very much for posting those rare photos. Collecting photos from a variety of sources over time is a part of the research that I really enjoy.

Curious thread.  May provide some options for using my German East Africa collection (all collected, none yet painted).  Well, last order still 'in transit' for my faux Belgians, faux Portuguese, and faux Force Publique (earlier than WWI).  All in 15 mm.

I ll have to find, among my sources,  a French one that i've scanned in Rome's military Library that included also a detailed  battle map for a small fight between Tirailleurs Sénégalais and Kamerun Askaris...in the meanwhile , even if outside subject of WW1 in Kamerun, please see those interesting picts of military actions in Kamerun..before WW1..it was nt conquered by the Germans without any fight..

French troops on march towards Kamerun and, finally, the re-conquered fortess of Kousseri...Kousseri in the north of the colony had been acquired, following a German/French Treaty before WW1..their first conquest by the French had been the final goal of a long and difficult war against the powerful African Slaver Empire of Rabah.
