Morris C8 Field Artillery Tractor
« on: November 08, 2009, 09:54:24 AM »
Hello,

Does anyone know if the [wiki]Morris C8[/wiki] is commercially available in 1/56 scale? I have been unable to find it so far. It would make a great FAT for BEF's 25pounder guns.

If the Morris C8 is not yet available, can someone point me in the direction of some good blueprints (both offline and online) so that I can try to build one (or more) myself?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Jase

not exactly sure if Tamiya has one in their 1:48 range

there are several in 1:35, but this should be too big for Your purpose

Softskins in 1/56th seem to be a problem all over. I'm pretty sure one is not available at this moment, but Brigade/Company B and Army Group North are most likely to churn one out in the future if anyone is.

There's at least one book available on the vehicle.  It appears to contain plans as well as many internal details.

You could probably kit bash one using the nose of our Morris CS8..  I can search for a miscats yo hand you.

Otherwise, check and see if George Bradford plans exist:

Also, a 1/35 kit from ebay may be useful for ref...

We'd do one perhaps...but we'd need to the 25 pounder first so it had something to tow.

Thanks for the replies!

Unfortunately, there are no 1:48 kits I could find. Tamiya does a 1:35 so perhaps I'll buy that one as reference material.

That book looks really useful, I think I'll order it when my boss decides it paytime again.

@CompanyB: If you have any miscasts lying about I'd be happy to buy one of you. If all it takes for you to build a Morris C8 is a 25pounder gun, what are you waiting for?  :D I'll buy three (Morris + gun combo) straight away!

Cheers

Just a little heads-up that I got the book by Capricorn Publications and it has a wealth of picture reference for building the C8. Not to expensive and very neat, a must have if you are into WW2 vehicles.

I saw your old question about 25 pounders and quads, and it just so happens I do these in 28mm for world war 2 wargames as finished item and sets under the name Battlewagons.

I recycle old castings from unlikely sources.

If you still need something along those lines I could help you out. I do a quad, limber and 25 pounder, as well as a MAT with 18pounder, with crew (amongst other things)

I do not have a web site yet, but do have a pdf doc I could send.

Here is an Aussie set I did as a commission for a guy in Aus.

It is nearly finished - just the FAT to glaze and hook to fit. I have ordered some paper die-cut ferns for the bases of the Diggers, form Japan - should be a nice finishing touch!

The gun platform is my own casting - I sell these separately as well
