LouieN this looks great! Are you playing with the base game rules or have you got deathwing/genestealer/compendium? If not these add some more bits and bobs - yes of course I want to send standard guardsmen into a space hulk when eight foot super humans in tank suits can’t cut it  lol

If I can help you with finding these rules please DM me and I’ll see what’s in my mountain of shame.

Right now I am just playing regulars 4th Ed rules.  We played two rounds of mission 1 last night and as expected the Marines got eaten.  yum yum.

I did tweak around the models I had.  I made a grenade launcher vs a heavy flamer

I am working through the horde of bugs now and when that is done I will make the 2nd round of terrain.  That will fill most of the needs for the follow on scenarios.

I will changes as I see fit to keep the game "balanced"  So good for now but I will keep you in line.

There are some GZG robotic sentries and regular guardsmen (NSL) that may be incoming.

Thanks

"Hey Sarge how do the bugs make all these tunnels?"

"You just had to ask Roberts!!!"

The swarm was very jealous that the marines got so much attention for their tunneler vehicle.  The Hivemind would like to remind humanity they always had a tunnel making "vehicle".  It fact its family!

A Reaper Bones purple worm has been recruited to act as a big monster in our games.

The primary this week work has been getting the actual swarm painted.  The first two units of "lesser" bugs are completed with a lot more on the painting table.

Here they are with their uncle Tim

Thank you and I hope you enjoyed the pics

"The first week of Operation Hotel went as planned.  The patrols moved into the tunnels and layers were cleared.  The higher echelons were pleased.  Then one day it all exploded."

Hello All,

A treat for all of you.  I have been cranking out bugs faster than a competitive Starcraft player.  I am pleased to say the Hive force is complete and we have lots of bugs to show off. Please enjoy.

The Hive Tyrant leads the host against the human incursion.

We have the first of the gun bugs.  It is not fair when they can shoot back.

I guess we can cross private Jenkins off the MIA list.

Thank you

I choose standard.  I guess the 200% is really meant for -28-32mm figures

Thank you so much, LouieN!

Hello gamers,

Another part of the Bug Hunt project is complete.  Havelock suits from Alternative armies provide the Marines with much needed heavy support to deal with the swarm.  I am also happy to report all the cave terrain is done.  Terrain making is an awesome part of the hobby, but it is always a joy to mark something done.  Only a few components still in work to see this project through.

Please enjoy the pictures and thank you

"With the Bug counter attack threating the entire campaign the Marshal activated the APU corp.  The brute machines were able hold the line against the swarm.  While their ability to traverse the tunnels was limited any place they stood was an anchor point in Marine defenses. "

"A common defensive formation used a Heavy flamer equipped APU in the rear of a choke point.  If the Bugs ever swarmed onto the APU the flamer unit would remove them with prejudice.  The APUs were able to take the heat, the bugs could not."

The full cave system

Thank you CC,

My inspiration is DM Scotty's 2D dungeon system.

Well, I think it’s a fantastic concept.  I would make them slightly higher, but essentially follow that same idea.

Kudos, man, kudos!

Really cool stuff, I also am working on some Tyranids in 15mm, although I use rippers single based on 20mm bases (and a Hormagaunt as a big baddie).

Really great stuff LouieN. So much gaming potential in such a compact and practical package. Apologies for slow reply but Dan’s highlighting of Rob Hawkin’s blog and beautiful handy work broke my artistic spirit and any pride I had in anything I have done or will do  lol   and I thought I was depressed before  :D
(Dan thank you for those links they have inspired me).

Ockman you’ve just reminded me that I’ve got old metal rippers for individual basing for 15mm and some of the epic larger versions (is it an Exocrine?) that look like mum to the babies.

Keep up the good work Louie
