Awww, I got me hopes up. I was hoping it would be moreso zombies in spaaaaace. Those ones are much too 'controlled' and clean looking.

I don't like the style of the cogs, the heads are nice but the blocky bits don't work for me and the weapons are just stupid looking. They've also been out quite a bit longer than the new District 9 film.

Pre paints, its like buying models that have been undercoated and had the base colurs done. Even those on here who like paintin must agree that those 2 stages are the great ball ache! However, very bad mould lines to contend with.

Atill, I like seeing people playing 8043, it looks fun!

I meant it had me thinknig of District 9 inspired games with their mech suits, just think of Matakishis township add in the irregulars and some cops/swat and bobs your uncle

Still like the vehicle, although it needs work. The human infantry look cool, I'd like to give them a go. Zombies...... still not sure. Currently reading the UNA book, bought it on a whim in the shop

How do Oni fit into the background?

How are these done? Are the figures actually painted? Or are the colors "molded" in? What is the plastic like? Hard like GW plastic? I've seen some pre-painted Star Wars figs and they were very "bendy".

If you were to repaint them, do you just prime over what's there? Or remove what's there?

The plastic seems to be somewhere between the GW & Star Wars plastics. I haven't seen alot of impossibly bent gun barrels or anything that made me cringe. The box sets are a great buy if you look at the prices of buying individual squads, the problem with that statment is that the squads IMHO are insanely overpriced.

I like the oni troops and the heavy zombies, but thats it for the troop types.

For the gameplay, I wasn't very impressed at all. Seemed like a bucket of dice game to me with very little "real" tactical gameplay aside from "these guys will take that out fastest." Once you get past that hurdle (said jokingly) it's just alot of dice throwing. You are probably better off buying the minis and using them for a game you like.

I bought the UNA Tacarms and Firetoads for use as generic Sci-fi troops as I loved the figures. Still unsure of the game, I played Damocles and it was okay but nothing great. The full game has a lot more options but I've only ever played a demo. It is a bucket'o'dice game but I don't mind that at all. If you like 40k at all then you'll probably like this, I don't like 40k and I'm not sure. I enjoyed the games I played but I don't feel a pull back to it.

The figures take paint fine, there are plenty of repainted ones in the Weird War section.
