Pakhtusov Petr Kuzmich. Amazing man. The dry lines of the encyclopedia will tell you how this man did the impossible. Geographical discoveries and cartography of unexplored Arctic shores on a wooden ship. He was able to lead people. Cortez lured with gold and riches - Pyotr Kuzmich simply led people for the sake of science and they followed him. After the death of P.K. Pakhtusov in 1835 (Pyotr Kuzmich died at the age of 34), they raised money for a monument by subscription and installed it in Kronstadt. It would seem that there is a monument to the midshipman in Kronstadt. He continued to unite people and death was not an obstacle to him.

This work is devoted to how Pyotr Kuzmich, on the Kazakov carbass, conducts a research expedition to Novaya Zemlya. A geodetic survey and inventory of the southern coast of Matochkina Shar is being carried out, astronomical observations are being carried out in order to establish the exact location of the strait and a description of the eastern coast of Novaya Zemlya 160 kilometers north of the strait.

At the end of March 1835, the ship was covered in ice and sank. The team escaped, but many fell ill after falling into the cold water. The expedition managed to reach 74°24′ northern latitude and describe the open islands. Later this archipelago was named the Pakhtusov Islands.

Figurine P.K. Pakhtusova was made according to a lifetime drawing.
