As mentioned I threw 22 times for possible alerts, needing a six each time,
and failed to get ANY sixes.

I was thinking, as I read Flatpack's initial post, "The Axis seem very passive in this scenario".  lol
Excellent looking game and photos!

Well it looks like you've found the rules you were looking for, congrats. Shame to have missed it but the early start just didn't work for me and allocation of transport.
Be interesting to see how well it plays for the more formal actions in the early western desert actions.
Great looking table Pete, glad you all had a good time.

The DAK-Attack rules are specifically for LRDG raids, so not for main stream fighting.
Still great fun though. :D

You'll have to play them Ian. If I am the German again I can
practically guarantee that the sentries will be sleeping most of the time.  :D :D :D

Second game of DAK attack.
Played of course in the right spirit.

'Is this the way to... El-Marillo?'
Arriving out of the desert in the early hours of 5th October,
the LRDG knew that, as the attack was coming out of the East,
the Sun would be behind them. Hopefully this would blind
the (ever vigilant) German sentries.

The railway halt of El-Marillo is a staging post for the expected
next Axis push. The LRDG  MUST do as much damage as possible...

Team Able = Vodkafan (James)
Team Baker = Dicemaster (Garry)
Team Charlie= Flatpack (Bob)
Germans= has.been (Peter) Unterdicescorerequired-thrower.

The railway halt.

In coming LRDG.

All hell let’s loose.

Italian transport pool goes up.

LRDG setting charges Underfire.

Railway goes up.

And away….

Now that the Flames of War SAS and LRDG sets now appear unavailable can anyone recommend any other sources of 15mm vehicles and figures for this game?. I know Peter Pig produce a jeep/crew but interested in other manufacturers.

The matchsticks indicate who is firing at who, so that players don’t change their mind if a target is taken out early.

SJWi - honestly no… I bought PP crews and ordered 3D printed Chev’s and jeeps. The trucks are ok but the jeeps have too many lines for me to even consider painting them (I have sanded them but no avail and I hate seeing print lines on a model - I’d rather not have it). I did think Skytrex but couldn’t find any (iirc). Going to buy some FoW plastic jeeps. I wish Battlefield would re-release or do a new plastic box as I refuse to buy the overpriced old sets online (screw the unnecessarily greedy trying to make money out of hobbyists).

I’ll keep looking, good luck in your hunt sir,

Andrew

Thanks. I see Paint and Glue in UK produce 3D prints and I think they are are in resin rather than filament. I will make enquiries.

Thanks Bob for not mentioning/gloating the turgid German response to the attack. :D

501 = LRDG storming out of the desert.
502 = Today's target.
503 = James opts to lay charges on the railway & points. He hoped the Germans were their
usual sleepy selves. Unfortunately they were alert & opened up at close range.
504 = The other two groups head into the town.
505 = Other Germans move into action.
506 = Garry shooting up whatever he can.

More pictures
507 = Thankfully players brought more explosion markers this time.
508 = Things not going well for the Germans
509 = With everything else hotting up, at least the oasis is cool.
510 = LRDG bug out before any incoming DAK patrol can stop them.
511 & 512 = the damage they leave behind them.

Another fun game. I have warned the 'LRDG' that the next time the axis patrol
arrival will be unpredictable. :D
That should keep them on their toes.
Now if I could just get a six on a D6 every now and again. lol lol lol
