Oathmark unit limits - army building versus deployment
« on: September 23, 2023, 10:38:00 AM »
In Oathmark there is a stated limit of four units of the same type (so you can have four units of human archers and four units of goblin archers). So for normal units on 25mm bases that is limited to 80 figures (four units of five wide by four deep).

However units of more than one rank can be broken down into two units.

The question is: does the four unit limit apply if you split a unit or is that just when building the army?

I think the 4 unit maximum is the number of units deployed on table during a game. I didn’t realize a unit could be split, I didn’t think that was possible once units are deployed on table.

Page 66 of the rule book.

I think you can only split once - and the second unit has no "officer".

I’ll have to dig my copy out and take a look, I completely missed that! I can see how it could be useful in some situations, ex. to cover additional frontage when outnumbered, or split a unit to cover a gap after losing an adjacent unit.
