Our fourth annual Shieldbash Invitational Tournament is coming up and I wanted to add a few more troops to the Vidaar warband (having never posted these here I'll get a warband shot up soon). Four Bondi are nearly done but I also decided to really lean into the Viking influence this year and re-shield my existing warriors and these new guys as well. The shields are two pieces of plastic card and the fisheye stickers I've been using from my Imperial Guard hatches. I plan to make decals or stickers of some Viking shield designs for them, and sculpt some handles on the back.

Zombiesmith sculpts have great character and your painting Evil Dave really brings that to life.

Thanks guys.

I got around to getting the shield designs on these and flocking them in the nick of time, ShIT's tomorrow! I also finished up my addition to the trophey and another surprise as well. Pics next week!

Also, here's my addition to the trophy for this year.

And my surprise that I've been working on, a viking longship. It's a 1:60 kit that I cut and sanded to be waterline, added some Kikak ear fins with plasticard and putty, and added my shields to as well. Rigging to come at a future date, a transformer exploded down the street the last night and I didn't get a chance to finish it.

We had our fifth annual ShIT (Shieldbash Invitational Tournament) this past weekend so it's finially safe to reveal what I've been working on in secret: three more Nhilde made for an "ungentlemanly" ammount of troll (but the cries of complaint/incredulity were well worth it). All's fair in muppet love and war.

We also had our first chariot race event. The entire chariot is scratch-built with plasticard. The birds are converted out of wooden beeds and wire, and the cew got a bit of conversion work too. It was prompty destroyed first (see the aforementioned above).

That chariot is awesome! The big guys are great, too, but the scratch build draft animals take the prize.

It’s been fun seeing pictures of these annual events, thanks for sharing. It looks like Zombiesmith only sells the new larger scale sculpts now? Bummer - when these first came out my wife, brother and even my mom got a painted a warband! Now they are lost to time and only my handful of Elvorix remain. Definitely some of my favorite minis of all time. At one time there was talk of 10mm Shieldbash figures, unfortunately they went with slightly larger, expensive and incompatible sculpts. Seemed to compete directly with what they already had. I was inspired to pick up more of the original after seeing this report, but perhaps that longship has sailed !

Josh is re-cutting the molds for the old metals. Apparently they were designed for Shieldwall, but that never had the traction that Shieldbash did. It sounds like the re-cut will help with the numbers. The plan is to bring them back later this year. We'll see if that holds.

We've shied away from the bigger stuff too, mostly because we have the old scale. There are some STLs out there though, and you could use those scaled down.

That is awesome news if he is recutting the molds, I’ll have to keep an eye out. Thanks!
