Goodbye to Crossfire? Oh no, not yet

There's been a revival of interest in Crossfire at the club and it's led me to dig out my old 20mm forces that I put together for those rules when I first returned to miniature gaming.

I've given them something of a refresh and it feels like a whole new project, but one that hasn't cost me any money and doesn't require any extra storage space. You don't get to say that very often in this hobby!

Rebasing for urban fighting has been a major part of what I've been doing. Crossfire does lend itself well to those situations and I have a lot of urban ruins. It wasn't so long ago that I considered disposing of this collection at a local Bring & Buy event but something told me I might regret it. Glad I didn't.

Interesting post.  I'm selling some rules on the Bazaar and last week came close to adding my copy of Crossfire to the sale. At the last minute I retrieved them as I thought they might be worth a second look. I also have the Vietnam add-on, albeit not the required "Hit the Dirt" rulebook so my plans to maybe use them for that theatre of war may be frustrated. Your post may inspire me to try them again.

Great stuff - always good to refresh an older project.

I see what you mean about the brick markers rather blending into the terrain too well - I suspect during a game they will get missed quite easily.

With the urban bases - if you are playing Normandy (or other grassy) games, you could always just add bits of clump foliage to the bases (no need for glue) then it will temporarily add a bit of green to them. Which will just shake off at the end of the game.
