Crashed helicopter scatter terrain from broken toy
« on: October 17, 2023, 01:47:28 PM »
As I am laid up with Covid I decided to make some simple scatter terrain from stuff in my junk box.  These are for our Dedburgh, Delta Zone (Zona Alfa) and probably fantasy games too

Dried banana stems

Aquarium gravel, flock and spare weapons and packs = graves

Some sort of old plant decor with wire core

Same wire decor and some seed pods

Sheep wool froma barbed wire fence, pipecleaner and a sparkly ball = smoke and flare

Wow, I would never have thought that Dried Bananna Stems would look so good as alien flora.   Really creative stuff!

This afternoon's batch:

An earring found on a walk is now a marker, modern art statue, strange alien artefact or whatever I need it to be. (base still to be done)

A dried twig

Discarded Pot Pouri

Some things picked up on a walk and dried

A pool of black Zone Sludge (card, Das pronto, flock and glue.  I will probably add something top right of the pool as, by accident, there is what looks lke a spillage

The same pool with sinister bubbling.  The bubbling stuff was formed when I left a tube of UHU glue in the sun too long when I went for a drink and the contents expanded, boiled and burst out.

Feel free mate, it is nice to see ideas spreading.
Like your latest swirly plants(I got mine from some Potpourri my wife had finished with).
Have you tried dry-brushing them? It takes little effort, but looks nice.
Liking the use of the found ear-ring too.

How well does this vegetable stuff last? Does it decay or get brittle and fall apart? I’m loving this topic :)

Doug

The banana stems were about a year old before I used them.  The pot pouri stuff was already dried and seems to last ages and again have been in my junk box for a few years.

In general I have used dried plant stems, twigs and seeds for years without them rotting.

The seed pods look suitably alien, and I like the rest of the found pieces. Great stuff. :)

Still not recovered fully from Covid New Strain.  So made more stuff.

I liked the wiggly plants and so made more

An "anomaly" from a broken Christmas decoration and a deadly tree or sacred grove from an old toy found in a box

A thing - UHU glue that boiled out of the tube when i left it in the sun, a support from a 3D print, a pen top and two wall plugs

A light bulb, a thing found on a walk, a broken plastic bolt

A wasp/bee hive thing picked up on a walk, a dead stalker, a burr

Bits from disposable Vape Things picked up on a walk and dismantled and made into ... field generators, scientific things, communications nodes or whatever
