The Count's Gallery - Altefritzenburg C18th ImagiNation
« on: October 24, 2023, 07:35:31 AM »
Been lurking here for ages and  recently been selling bits and pieces so thought it was about time I  posted some pics here. Among many, my main project over the last 12 years has been a gradually increasing force of 28mm ImagiNation troops for Alterfritzenburg and her enemies in Braunschweig and some of her 'Ottoman' type allies. It started as one battalion and few supporting troops but as grown a little since then.  This was it in 2020.

There are quite a few more added now...

And I'm not adverse to adding the odd 'real' unit like these Irish:

I'll post more in the coming months as I'm in the process of trying to 'finish' the project for a big game in 2025....

However, after quite a lull in the old painting mojo I've finally finished some bits that have been sat half done for months...

Then three Midlam Miniatures figures I've added to my Ottoman themed force...

And finally the Sultan himself. A self styled Imam, his bodyguards, and the sacred camel.... Best not ask...

And now Lord Peeler of Aytonia. Currently touring the lands of friends and enemies of past conflicts. Accompanied by his favoured staff who provide him with essential supplies to get through the day. Not all staff last the day

Figures are Minden, Foundry, and RSM. The Aytonian flag bears a striking resemblance to the flag of Georgia but looked a little plain so I went with the flag of the Georgian Ministry of Defence...

Cheers

Lovely work! It's an amazing effort to have collected, and painted such a beautiful force over the last twelve years!

I really need to do a big parade at some point. Just realised since that pic I've added another ten battalions and 5 units of cavalry!!!

Great looking figures - really like your command groups.

Definitely time for a parade with shots of all the troops!

My main ImagiNation is Altefritzenburg. I plan to do proper parade shoot for them in the not too distant. But my opposition for them is Braunschweig as I acquired some figures from a friends small  ImagiNation force which he had so named and I just stuck with it...

The core force is six regiments of infantry. RSM figures with Minden command.

HQ and brigade command stands:

Jaegers. Foundry figures. Half painted by Tim Hall and the rest matched by me.

Artillery. From Tim Hall.

And some cavalry. Crann Tara dragoons and RSM Hussars

More to come when I have the space to lay them out...

Cheers

always liked those RSM figures. Such effective, subtle, animation in their marching pose.

Would love to know the source / how to on the Map table

Hi,

Tabletop is made from coffee stirrers on top of two resin barrels. I then Googled C18th maps until I found a couple I liked. Printed them rather small on normal printer paper. Then stuck to the (painted) table with PVA and sealed with PVA. Enough PVA on there to soak and allow if to drape over. And that was it really.

Cheers

That is a great looking collection. where do you get the RSM figures from? I love these figures but the postage cost from the US these days makes them impossible for me to get them.

Hi,

I was quite lucky with the RSM. First lot were gifts from Jim Purky (of Fife and Drum miniatures) then I ordered a lot before the postage got silly. They are a bargain price anyway so even with postage and import it's somethings works. I was also lucky to get a few from people in the UK. I've done 16 battalions of them and have two left to do. Then that is me done.

They are lovely figures. Though some of the range/moulds are less good.
