Evil Dave's Epic Necrons - Pylons
« on: November 02, 2023, 03:41:07 AM »
So on September 7, Kal told me that I couldn't play my Slaanesh Knights at the Fall In tournament (boo!!!). Rather than take something else I've played previously I thought it would be a good, quick challenge to paint something up in two months time. Enter the Necrons that I've had build since 2011 and that I've tried twice now to finish up. What you see below is some 3,930 points that I've been slogging through these last eight weeks.

I originally had plastic Chaos Androids for the Warriors but swapped them out with the old Exodus War Edonites sometime after 2017. So build, primed, and sprayed silver was pretty much my starting point except for the bigger stuff which I based (and I even painted the Destroyer bases!).

Progress was going pretty good right up until I got to the Monoliths. I went through four different schemes for these guys (stripping them at one point) before I settled on this one. I think I could have done better if I took some more time on them but honestily I was just looking to get them finished this past week.

At this point I have some 36 infantry, 12 vehicles and 7 war engines to finish up. We'll see how much I want to come back to them after Fall In, as I've got more Slaanesh Knights and some 6mm American Civil War looking for paint too.

Don't know much about this game...in fact nothing at all, but your figures look great!! Well done and have a great time at Fall In. I haven't been able to attend for a long time

They look really good; the red instead of green certainly is striking! A great army for sure  8)

May I ask why you were not allowed to play your Slaaneshi Knights in the tournament?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I barreled through the last of the Necron infantry I have built this week, finishing up the Pariahs and another six Destroyers. I need to finish converting some Flayed Ones and then pick up some Wraiths.

Thanks guys.

I finished up the Nightbringer this week, continuing on with the Necron stuff I have built.

Thanks Louie.

I finished converting six stands of Flayed Ones this week as well. I cut strips of plasticard into long triangles, glued them together, and then glued them to the Exodus Wars models to give them claws. Definitely one of the fiddleist conversions I'm done. Six more stands to go. :P

Thanks guys.

I wanted to at least paint one thing new for this weekends tournament, I had hoped to finish three of these but only managed the two in my list.

At least in Apocalypse back in the day, three Pylons was the magical number. I scratchbuilt mine, and only ever (semi ::) )finished one, but I clearly remember the rules stating that they would allow for some really nasty arcane techno trickery.

Is Epic the same in this?

The paintjob is to your usual great standard though 8)

Thanks.

There's no special rule involving multiples/synergization or anything like that. They pretty much teleport anywhere onto the battlefield and start zapping stuff. Hopefully bigger stuff as they can roll extra damage. They're also at good a shooting down aircraft, I imagine a Pink Floyd-esque lightshow that enemy aircraft get to fly through.
