I broke the barrel of a gun on my miniature :(
« on: November 11, 2009, 10:30:29 PM »
I was moving some models and bumped the table, and poor Doc Holliday took a spill. His gun barrel twisted like a cartoon, and when I tried to straighten it, it snapped. I'm thinking of clipping a needle or small wire and drilling a hole to replace it. Any better solutions? Poor Doc Holliday!!!

Is it the Artizan Doc? His gun barrels are weaker than a wet paper bag!

It was the Reaper Doc Holliday. It was the gun he's pointing with, so sad!

Since this will produce a rather strong joint, as opposed to just popping on a length of plastic rod, I´d say this is the overall "best solution", especially if you plan to use the figure for gaming. I would suggest, though, using a length of paperclip wire since this usually is about the same thickness as 28mm figures´ pistol barrels and also easier cut than a steel needle.

Brass rod is another option. Easier to file the end flat I found, than paper clip metal.

well, You could also use the accident to improve it, drilling a very thin hole, glueing a length of thin pin and adding a thin brass tube as barrel, maybe as a long barreled version?
