Decent Troll Figure for 15 MM
« on: August 17, 2024, 02:35:05 AM »
I am needing a decent troll figure, along the lines of the mountain troll in the first movie of the trilogy "Lord of the Rings" by Peter Jackson. All I have been able to find so far are the goofy, comic, large eared, large nose types.

Can anyone help me out with a source please?

Thanks, Terry

Not really the style you are after but not goofy looking. Northstar snow trolls

Would 28mm scale orcs or goblins do, if suitably painted?

Like this one from Etsy, for example

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

GW's Goblin Town goblins are decently sized for 15mm. I use on for any troll / ogre / unpleasantly large humanoid monster.

Hmmm, using those goblins is an intriguing suggestion! I want to add some giants or similar to my 15mm orc/ goblin army, but haven’t found anything I like yet - these might be just right and I even have an unopened box already! I use them for in 25mm fantasy ghouls and sci-fi mutants (but not as goblins, didn’t appreciate P Jackson’s take on goblin town…) but never considered using them with smaller scale figs.

I don’t want this miniature at 3:41 mins in. Could suit.

Also at bottom right.

Thank you everyone. I believe I will go with these bad boys from Khurasan. Not exactly what I am looking for ,but still nice looking figures and definitely not goofy looking! I really liked he snow troll and if they didn't have off of the long hair/fur I'd go with them.

Thanks again.

A bold choice!

On a 40mm square base, nicely imposing when alongside a 15mm Human.

hadn't considered using them for ghouls or SF mutants, but will take a look now to see if they might suit for VSF (Morlocks)

Look at some 'heroic' sized 28mm figures, they are lots out their that may be usable.  I use a lot of 28mm figures for troll sized figures in 15mm and 28mm trolls as giants...it works quite well.

My brother (Wirelizard here), used a 25mm dwarf for a God when we used to play 15 mm fantasy over two decades ago (oh god, I'm old)

How about these 15mm Copplestones ( available from North Star )?

https://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/prod.php?prod=353
( snow trolls, I have those, they're brilliant )

Or one of these giants:
https://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/prod.php?prod=353

https://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/prod.php?prod=245

https://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/prod.php?prod=455

They look dumb and primitive enough - especially the bottom link - to serve as giant trolls.
