The pieces look lovely and the ideas behind Torch and Shield sound great. I'd love to playtest that when you're ready - I'm busy working on a set of dungeon rules for Sellswords that involve light and lost figures in somewhat a similar vein.

Hey Burg,

Yes we just had a quick go of the quick play rules to get a handle of the basics, Grimskald has finished the rules and released pdf to the kickstart backers, they are working to send out printed rulebooks by Easter 2024. So not long to wait.

Check out their page here for the demo rules.

Thanks James! It's nice having one project as the focus. It helps with the "ooh shiney" syndrome a little bit. I really enjoyed scratch building the terrain, nice to work on a larger scale and forces you to take more risks I think. I'm a bit tight on figures and kits as I don't want to stuff them up which is a little less enjoyable.

We got the dungeon out and played an afternoon fighting to the boss room, where a 8 suckered monster awaited.

The eldest had sculpted the monster out of oven baked clay, quite a terrifying vision.

The suckered beasty sucked up 2 adventurers before it was slain.
One of my highlights of the game was that the kids picked goblins as their hero's. What legends.

Check out the book "nobody likes a goblin" by Ben Hatke
It's a funny reverse look at the DnD world and follows a humble filthy little goblin who's just trying to live out a happy little life.

Re: Dungeon Tiles and Terrain: P3 bridges

Next up for the dungeon tiles I needed some low profile sturdy bridges for choke points and to add some depth to the tiles. They needed to be robust to throw in the box and slimline enough to take some knocks without being damaged.

I made a stone 4 and wooden 3 long bridge out of mdf, round dowel, coffee stirrers, cork and balsa. They sit just higher than the tiles with a small overlap to tie in as a step while keeping the same measurements as a normal corridor tile to keep the board square.

I like those - nice and simple to build, but they look good.

Iv'e worked on a little more set dressing for the dungeon.

I started with some cut up sprue to make some very HEAVY piles of gold, I figured treasure is always important in these dungeon adventures.

Next added some more kill tokens, because you need the full gib effect for Diablo dungeoning. (I could use at least triple this number haha)
Simple Greenstuff noodles and GW's paint "blood for the blood god"

Next up, any dungeon adventure needs mystical tomes ready to be read, so made some lecturns from balsa and coffee stirrers.

No where as good as the HeavyMetal teams Goremayne Laywer, but does the trick - See Below, i love the aging to these pages.
