New Red Box Games plastics

I thought I'd post this as I'm a big fan of the Red box games sculpting style. They have a new kickstarter in conjunction with Wargames Atlantic to produce plastic multipart men at arms.

This looks really good.
The only thing I'm a bit iffy about is how the hands are separated from the arms, which might make assembly a bit of a pain.
On the other hand this is a great resource for kitbashing

Tre has been designing, re-designing, tweaking and re-tweaking these for ages and I think the separate hands decision was because he felt the one-piece arm gave too few pose options. He wanted the customer to have as much flexibility as possible with the models they built, at the cost of making it a bit of a longer process for those wanting to make large numbers at once.

Love the look of Red Box Games, but I can assume these are in the normal 25mm Red Box Games scale?  If they were a larger scale, I'd buy in immediately...but I know Tre likes to stick to his established scale.

Red Box Games figures have always been cut a little differently than other table top miniatures ranges. I have always preferred and striven to create figures with more " realistic " proportions eschewing the exaggerations of " Heroic " scale miniatures lines. To this end my figures do not typically match well with other figures ranges. This is totally intentional on my part. It is a stylistic choice.

 While my digital work has tended more toward a slightly thicker aesthetic than my previous tangible sculptural work the proportions remain as true to life as I think they can be made to be and still be " readable " on a table top. Please see below for the exact measurement of the assembled figure parts for this production which will be the standard for all RBG figures going forward.”

They are 32mm foot to head.

Tre has included a size comparison pic on the Redbox Facebook page with a Frostgrave plastic to show that they're not really compatible size-wise, unless you want a big height difference, with the FG min coming up only to the shoulder of the Redbox one.

Yeah, I remember when I bought my first Redbox Norse years ago, I assumed they were going to be very tall figures because the 'heroic' proportions just made them look like that to me. When they arrived I was surprised at how small and dainty they were and ended up basing them on taller bases so they didn't look odd next to my Foundry and Gripping Beast guys. Tre Manor has spent a long time going back and forth, showing his followers what he's been working on, asking them for feedback and suggestions and I reckon it's a deliberate move after customers have asked for taller models. The proportions also look a little more mainstream, with the heads being not quite as small as the earlier Redbox metals.

They are 32mm to the top of the head, not to the eyes. Should be pretty similar heights to your WGA, Perry or Victrix plastics.

Yeah, I actually visited the KS after posting - happy to see they're going to be more "normal".

Then I received the email with the questionable scale picture...making them look huge.

Theeeeennnn....I received two more emails stating the scale picture was wrong, and they were more in line than previously pictured, .

I trust that Wargames Atlantic know what they're doing to make the minis scale-decently with other common 28/32 style lines of miniatures.

I ended up backing it, honestly just to support Tre, as I dig his sculpts.  If I can use them, awesome...if not, I'll pass them off to someone else who can.

Yeah he mentioned in the comparison with the FG figure how short that is. I like the more realistic sized heads and hands of his sculpts but they can look odd next to other "28mm" figures. Also the head on the RBG looks small because of the helmet, a better comparison would be using one of the bare heads.

I mean, production is expensive for multipart sprues. If you can't count on enough revenue to recover those costs, there's only so much you can do.
