25mm steel washers
« on: December 08, 2023, 10:18:00 PM »
I used to buy these in those grab bags from Wilkinsons, tyhey worked out at less than 2p a washer. Now that Wilkos have shut down does anyone know a good online source for them as my stocks are running low....?

There is Wickes. Not as cheap as 2p each though.

2p coins themselves are less than 1mm oversized.  They are also coated steel these days.  Could you use those?

My local hardware store still sells them loose but otherwise I buy from Amazon. TBH Amazon is cheaper and better, consistent quality.

I used to use 2p coins but prefer the washer rim.

Thanks for the tips.

I've used 2p pieces but I find the washers stick better to my magnet lined storage trays....

Search for local independent workshop supply companies. The sort that are tucked away on a little industrial estate somewhere and has row upon row of nuts, bolts and washers. My local one definitely does this sort of thing.

Unfortunately although I get the 20mm version from them quite regularly I don't know the price as they go on the work account but it's worth a quick internet search and perhaps a phone call.

There are plans afoot to reopen Wilko stores next year. I have no idea in what shape or form, and it may not be in time for what you need, but never say never ???
