Wee Cottage
« on: 11 December 2023, 11:16:32 PM »
Hi guys.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything or done much in the way of hobby related stuff. I have managed to get a dedicated hobby room though, so I figure it’s time to get some generic terrain I can use for a few types of games. And what’s more generic than a wee fantasy cottage.

I used a cutting from a large cardboard tube as a kinda of former. From there, it was just a case of cutting loads of small bricks out of XPS(blue foam) and PVA gluing them in place. All bricks were cut the same length, but I cut different thicknesses. This allows a kinda of uniformity to the bricks, but with enough randomness to be interesting looking. I also cut a few square bricks just to add some more randomness in.

The windows and doors are cuttings of balsa wood, cut roughly and with notches and damage cut with a sharp knife.

The roof is just a circle of cornflake packet card, cut to make a cone. Strips of cornflake packet card were then cut to make separate tiles.

Thanks for looking.

Welcome back, mate :)

And that's a seriously nice re-entry project. You're right; it can be useful for a plethora of settings, but it screams Middle Earth to me for obvious reasons.

Also; congrats on the hobby room! A word of warning though; it'll fill up faster than you can foresee. Ask me how I know...  :D

That's amazing!

The WIP shots do remind a bit of that classic drawing meme though... it goes from 'ah yes, I could follow these steps' to 'complete and amazing' with nothing in between  :D

Yeah, I noticed that as well ;D

What are you using for the cement between the blocks, as that looks like it took quite a bit of time and effort ???
