The President's Downfall
« on: December 13, 2023, 08:29:07 PM »
I recently played a coup game set in some made up Middle Eastern country. The game started with a mob of rioters in front of the presidential palace. The army had just refused to come out to save the president. All he had left were his loyal secret policemen.

The rules came from my new book "Social Matrix Games." Which cover hobby Matrix Games.

Here is the opening board.

And a close up of the Plaza of Peace. There is a CNN news crew over looking the crowd so the revolution was definitely televised.

The game play uses a very simple rules set that I use a con games. But it is supplemented by players jumping into role playing and making stuff up. To role play, you say what a character does and roll 2d6, 7+ to succeed. Making stuff up (the Matrix Game) allows you to say anything. I for instance ran the rioters. On the first turn I jumped in and said what happened in the president's staff meeting. We also made up how different factions in the game came under and went out of individual player's control. I know this sounds weird but it is a simulation method used by militaries around the world.

Things did not go well for the president. He managed to break out of the palace in his armored limousine, but poor road conditions slowed him down so the crowd caught up. He was torn to pieces and the car set of fire. Meanwhile the police at the palace were overwhelmed. Somehow the building caught fire.

Here is a picture of the board and my opponent after his downfall.

The army, which basically sat out the coupe, moved in to restore order. The US government offered thoughts and prayers and did nothing.

All in all a good game.

My minis were a combination of Peter Pig and Rebel Miniatures, 15mm scale. The tanks, cars, and aircraft were toys. Got to love micro machines! The buildings are made of painted blocks. This is their first time out. The terrain board is new to. 20"x20" with 4" wings on either side that can be used to form ridges (if placed on the board).

How do you make pictures visible in posts?

We've got a topic on that: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=102903.0

In short, you'll need to copy the image address ending on a supported image format such as jpg or png into your post and add the IMG tags around it, provided your hosting service allows for hotlinking.

Hi Chris,

Good to see you on the forum. It is always fun to see what new concept you will come up with next. Hopefully, you will keep posting more of your games and ideas.
