White. The banner was conditionally taken by the 42nd Troitsky Rifle Regiment. The goal is to make an ordinary, non-elite unit of the volunteer army of the south of Russia. A metal figurine of a white soldier Coplestone (most likely made based on the Chapaev film) is shown for comparison

I'm Reading this at the moment.

Great though your figures are, will there be any in firing poses?  Mr Copplestone doesn't do many either.  Difficult to create a firing line.

Orctrader, good call on the Beevor book. I have it in my reading stash. I heard Beevor talk about it and the RCW at the Chalke Valley History Festival. His view was that the Bolsheviks won because they proved to be "bigger murdering bas***ds" than the other lot of "murdering bas***ds"! One of my 2024 projects is to dig out my Copplestone Red Army and build a force of White opponents. I also need to find a decent set of rules.

These are test figures. If a decision is made to replicate these figures, then a project with many figures will be launched.

In the civil war in Russia there are many versions of what happened, from everyday to conspiracy theories. There were honest soldiers of the Red Army and noble warriors of the White Army, but there were also robbers on both sides.

I can tell the story of one friend. His grandmother said that she saw the times of the revolution.
"....white Cossacks arrived in the village. The officer said..You are all rebels and you need to be flogged, but I forgive you....

They sat down to drink vodka, then they were drawn to the women.... the men of the village stood up and were killed... when the whites left... the villagers consulted and decided to go to the reds...."

I think that was the case. The Reds were able to build a state...the Whites were never able to unite due to contradictions.....

I've read a lot of RCW histories, and Beevor's is the one most focused on the sheer wanton slaughter, especially by the Reds. I already know what it going to happen, but I still found the amount of bloodshed quite depressing.

I haven’t read Beaver, and I can’t say anything about his book, but the reason for the massacre lies in the fact that problems and conflicts in Russian society, and with them hatred, have been accumulating for centuries. And peasant society (Russia at that time was overwhelmingly an agrarian country) was extremely patriarchal; grievances in families were remembered for centuries. Serfdom alone “heated the cauldron of hatred” for centuries (not counting thousands of other, big and small problems)... And the time came when this cauldron exploded. And everyone began to settle scores with everyone, increasing the number of those offended and drawing more and more people into the whirlpool of violence.
What is good about democracy is that it is a valve for releasing pressure in the “boiler”. Otherwise...
The Bolsheviks, in my opinion, turned out to be the only force that was able to tame the raging elements, and even offer an attractive project for the future. The Whites did not offer anything, postponing the decision until later, after the end of the war (and could not offer it, since they presented projects that were completely alternative to each other, and were united solely by the fight against a common enemy).

Everything is simpler.
Whites are immediately made into elites. Regiment of Markov or Drozdov.
I wanted to make those soldiers who were not celebrities, but who were the majority.
I couldn’t find the banners of the ordinary regiments... so I decided to use the name of the 46th regiment...
