Lance pennons
« on: December 23, 2023, 01:03:54 PM »
Hi All

I have been thinking about how to go about fixing pennons to my Perry Miniatures’ Bengal Cavalry lances.

The nature of the miniature bamboo shafts makes the (conventional) wrapping of the pennons tricky … seeking an alternative I seem to have found a legitimate one – attaching to the side of the shaft, as shown in this Victorian era auction lot:

What do we think?

I would still wrap them for durability/useability  .. but it would then be easy enough to paint up as you have  shown

The nodes make wrapping a bit tricky.

Anyhow, I have fixed the first six – the thickness of the folded paper, trimmed to fit the shape of the shaft, seems to give enough surface for a robust result.

Wait to see … obvs …

I think these look alright, and feel pretty well fixed:

I am basing the miniatures at the moment, and hope to post images of the finished unit to my blog before the end of the week.
