My 2023 in Review
« on: December 24, 2023, 07:57:55 PM »

I decided to do my "Year in Review" on my Lead Legionaries blog. Hope you can take a moment to check it out. I reduced to the three main threads of my painting, terrain building, and gaming.

Brilliant blog post. A real joy to read a summary of your efforts this year. May 2024 bring even more gaming joy!

Looks like a good year for gaming as well as hobbying in general.  Nice writeup.

Great blog, looks like a productive year.

I really like the decoration on the Thracian clothing.

Thanks, everyone -- I appreciate it! When it comes to painting an army's worth of figures, I seem to always err on the side of "Who wears the fanciest clothes...?"  lol

I have had a productive winter break painting and modeling, but I think I will hold off and do one big update rather than "I painted these three figures" for my next Lead Legionaries post. I would love it if more LAF readers visited my blog more frequently...  :-*

Great review. Wondering about your comments on scifi coop with SSZ - does your group not like coop or just not like SSZ?

Good question about Space Station Zero. It was my decision to not pursue it...after spending several months making terrain, boards, etc.! The guys were willing, but I wasn't sure it'd be a good fit. We tend to have 6+ gamers show on our Sunday evenings.

That said, one of the friends who'd gone out and purchased the rules when I was getting things ready for SSZ suggested playing this coming weekend. So, who knows? Maybe we will give it a go after all! With this many players, though, I think we're going to have to play competitive. I can't imagine a coop game with that many figures all falling over each other to kill the robots or shut off the poison gas. What do you think?

I would LIKE to do coop, but not sure how to handle it...unless I make the crew sizes really small.

Ahh, good to know. I am working on a sci-fi variant of the fantasy coop skirmish game Sellswords & Spellslingers, so am always curious about other people's opinion on coop
