Tried 1st game of 15mm Star Wars using awesome Mantic Deadzone rules with home-made lists for Rebels and Imperials.
Unfortunately, on my way to the local club I suddenly found out that I forgot mousepad Deadzone gameboard at home. Almost broken by this discovery I was still able to run a game - bought a huge sheet of paper with a grid in a nearby hobby store and painted 3-inch squares by hand. It was still a bit ugly but acceptable.
Imperial stormtrooper force, supported by a mortar and a bunch of droids, advances into the neighbourhood in a seek&destroy mission.
Lonely deathtrooper descends from a shuttle on a far flank to capture objective.
Rebel infantry force, strengthened by a couple of wookies, flamethrower AT-RT and a heavy blaster advances from the south under intense mortar shelling, suffering casualties and disorder.
Both forces meet in the center of the board near the tallest building. Wookie finds a hidden cashe with a frag grenade and uses it immediately with great effect.
Imperials concentrate their firepower and cause heavy casualties on rebels, killing blaster crew, AT-RT and some troopers. Rebel grenade launchers proves to be extremely inaccurate hitting nothing for all the game.
Stormtroopers gain the high ground but are counter-attacked by wookies who quickly dismember imperials in a brutal Hth-combat. They even manage to snipe mortar crew with bowcaster, but are not lucky enough to destroy it.
Mortar retaliates, sending both wookies into a flight from the building roof.
Stormtroopers advance again, kill disordered and battered rebels, capture the highest position again and even manage to kill well hidden rebel leader with a well-placed grenade.
Rebels suffer crushing defeat with only a sole surviving wounded wookie. They had a chance to turn the tide in a middle of the battle, but some bad rolls and tactical decisions cost them a day.
