Warcry - First Game
« on: January 02, 2024, 01:23:38 PM »
A friend's son home for the Christmas Break was kind enough to spend a morning with me and play a game (my first) of Warcry.

My Shadespire Chaos models and a few proxies faced off against a Stormcast core with blow pipe wielding reptilian allies across some of my scenic items.   I had no ranged capability and forgot to use most of my reactions and abilities.

I lost - but it is a fun game and quite unlike the IgoUgo hit, wound, save of the normal GW fare.  It seems they have learned a lot from indy games and pulled modern mechanics into their game world.

Keen for a re-match with a re-jigged warband and a good read through and comprehension of the abilities before the action.

Too busy and forgot to take photos in game  - just one very early in the game and one of my lads after the dressing room and shower.

No dear, they are not toys, they are models

Great stuff Pauld. I think Warcry may be GW’s best current game (there’s Bloodbowl, but I was always happy with the living rulebook versions). I’ve only played a couple of games but it was refreshingly different to the other GW style games, and if anyone else in my area played it I would probably be focusing on it to get my 28mm skirmish fix.

Lovely looking board. We play a lot of Warcry , it is a very non-GW game, especially once they added in the reactions. And I truly love the initiative dice mechanic with the wild dice - simple, easy to understand, some luck with some player choice. Very non-GW
