Facelift for a Lift Bridge
« on: January 03, 2024, 03:14:53 AM »
I find MDF laser cut terrain great for gaming – it's light, sturdy and easy to work with. That said it also has a very distinctive look – laser cut angles; flat surfaces, and, obvious joins. With a little thought most of those less appealing features can be disguised or hidden and it's not always as difficult as it might look. I recently gave a face lift to a 20mm lift bridge with details on the build in this blog post http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2024/01/facelift-for-lift-bridge.html

I don't think I'd be able to tell that was MDF if I hadn't been able to look really closely. Lovely work and hopefully something that kit makers pick up on - imagine if they shipped with the bits you used to customize with - would have made it a much better kit

I agree - I like to fancy up my MDF buildings, as well. They make a good, easy-to-assemble structure, but they truly shine when you can elements and a more 3D look like you did here! Very nice...
