This is the one that most of the specialist collector/display figure painters seem to be switching over to. Most forums have review/"just bought" type posts about them.

I bought it's less expensive cousin, and it works great.

worth checking out sewing shops, embroidery lamps are usually good and designed for people using their hands under them so they are generally LED bulbs (so you don't get too hot).

Late reply, but I also used a cheap LED light from Amazon, and I've been using it for over a year for tabletop painting. It has a big ol' circle that you can look through to paint mini's, although I don't bother. The gooseneck is useful for that "light from angle". I used to have an OTT light, but it eventually died.

Does it have to be a desk lamp? I use my floor lamp from Sunmory for painting. It also has an adjustable color temperature.
