Hello

this topic's title says it all.
we have started to play 28mm Vietnam war games using the Charlie Don't Surf ruleset.
We liked the flow of the game but it requires an average of 100 minis per side.
Right now we have 40 minis per side available and as the club's painters are already involved in several projects we have to stick to these numbers.

So, we are looking for a Vietnam ruleset which can be played with no more than 40 minis per side. Yes, skirmish, I believe.

Thanks a lot in advance for your recomendations.
Pascal

There is also an unofficial Bolt Action supplement for Nam.

I would throw into the nix Empress Miniatures "Bohica" ruleset which says it is aimed at platoon level games. I haven't got it or played it so cannot comment any further.

Asymmetric Warfare and Spectre Operations v3 will both cover this handily.

AW is the latest iteration of the original Spectre ruleset (V3 is a totally different beast), there was a jungle warfare supplement for V2 which should be compatible with AW available on the Spectre Miniatures site.

Wayne Bollands' The Nam, and Fistful of Lead (either their core rules or their Bigger Battles version).

As cocky said there’s a Bolt Action supplement available (somewhere on the web) and there’s also one for Chain of Command (platoon based so fitting your criteria) that’s worth a look.

Although not written specifically for Vietnam, my "Wars of Insurgency" would be an easy one to use. Players control 3-5 squads of from 3-12 figures, or 1+ vehicles. Typically, players control a couple dozen figures each.

Here's the link. There are LOTS of AARs on the First Command Wargames website, too.

Which I think is from the same folks who did Ambush Alley.

Here's the link to Chain of Command DMZ:

You will need the Toofatlardies Chain of Command rules to use the DMZ version.

Hello

thank you for all the recommendations.

I'd like a specific ruleset for the Vietnam as we already play Chain of Command for WW2 and Force on Force for nowadays Afghanistan.

But I'll take a look at CoC DMZ.

Thanks again.

There are several role playing games, which are written for narrative style, but could be adapted for miniatures.

Detailed. (maybe too detailed).  Includes a lot of background info and some scenarios

I use No End in Sight from Nordic Weasel for that level of skirmish game.
