Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone.  I will rock on with my Gauls.

One thing I have noticed is that the glue I prefer - Tamiya Extra Thin - often doesn't seem to make a strong bond.  Just this morning in starting to rock on with my gauls an arm fell off.  Nice flat surface on the arm and the torso so not sure why it didn't stick.

That’s down to the plastic.  TET is quite mild for a plastic glue, and I’ve found figures to be a bit tougher to stick than plastic kits.  Try Revell Contacta.  It’s a bit hotter (melts the plastic a bit more readily) and you’ll get some gap filling as well as a bit of adjustability when putting the part on.
