And so to the final game where my Daemons took on Neil's Big Hatted Chaos Dwarfs

I set up partially in a swamp

But soon found myself in an enormous bloodbath

Thank you - though I don't remember the mat being quite as stark as it looks in the pictures!

A new opponent with another new-to-me army - Alan and his Lizardmen joined me in the Soldier Shack

Turns out 28mm jungle works just fine for smaller scales too

After a slow start my hordes managed to set themselves up on a hill

My flanking dogs were wiped out for little real gain and my right was now wide open

The monsters did their monster thing and crushed the centre, but would it be enough?

Finjd out the result (or just look at more pictures) here: https://tomstoysoldiers.blogspot.com/2024/06/warmaster-revolution-lizardmen-v-daemons.html

More Monday Night Warmaster.
This time a Dark Elf slave raid deep into Middenland meets an Empire force.

Implacable White Wolves held in reserve.

The knights protect the flank

Steam Tank causes problems for the lightly armed Elves

Can the Druchii be held back?

With a sulphurous whiff and a weird crackling popping sound the Daemons once more manifested in Lustria.

The Lizards came to meet them

Khorne's hounds were caught in the open

The jungle echoed with the sounds of war and ran with Demon ichor

For a change I played host and Andy and Alan played.

This was a version of the tower scenario from the rulebook, using a large tree instead of a tower. Thematic, see.

Turn one saw a general advance.

Soon however, as often happens with this scenario, there was a lot of fighting around the tower big tree.

Eventually the Wood Elves were forced to withdraw, however they'd collected enough seed to earn themselves a draw.

Looks awesome!

Thank you. It's one of my favourite things about Warmaster how great the armies look at this scale, the sweep and scope of a genuinely big battle

As a follow up to our clash ar Wormaster I met up for a game with Neil and his Beastmen

We each of us seized high ground

The clash of cavalry and monsters on the flank would help decide things

Could the thin blue and white line hold out?

Back to Lustria and time to give the Chaos Warriors a run out

A messy initial charge by the Chaos forces cam a cropper in the swamp.

And over enthusiastic chariots met a dismal fate

But Chaos warriors are nothing if not resilient and knights make short work of most things

More good looking armies - great stuff!

Chaos is not subtle, in our games they often suffer against shooty armies. But Lizardmen are pretty similar in style to Chaos. A lot of WM is killing the cheap stuff to push the break point - we often had the trope of the goblins hiding in a wood well out of the way, just to preserve 4 units against the BP!

The leadership bubble that develops around the Slann makes the Lizards an interesting challenge to play I think.

Yes hiding some cheap chaff in a wood or a swamp with strict instructions not to get themselves killed is quite common.

Chastened by recent defeat the Dark Elves were urged on by Malekith to turn back the Chaos invaders.

Leading from the front the Dark Lord plunged himself into the fight

The vaunted Chaos chariots were met with steel barbed bolts

Would the dread followers of Tzeentch prevail?
