Some nice Bobbies?
« on: December 29, 2009, 10:09:16 AM »
Can anyone recommend a particularly nice range of Victorian-era Bobbies that I might use for prowling the streets of London at night? Looking for something heroic looking. You know, the iconic image we see in movies of the bobbie, perhaps with nothing more than a rain cape and a lantern, patrolling darkened streets? I know this is a stereotype, but I need -good guys- for one of these projects I've got going, and I think they'd fit the bill nicely.

Have found a few options, but sure there are more.

Eureka has two packs. Both nice figures and compatible with the WW range, but not quite "heroic". They have a little different helmet than the original bobbie hat, WW has.
the one pack is named "comic".

There is also a couple of running bobbies.

Westwind's police figures are in their Gothic Horror range, in the the Jack the Ripper section. They do a do a pack of four 'bobbies' in uniform (no capes, but one has a lantern), a pack of 'detectives' in civilian clothing with pistols (actually useful for all sorts of armed gentlemen too) and, of course, Holmes and Watson. Nice figures too.

If I recall correctly this pack contained 4 or 5 figures - officer in cap with pistol, 2 or 3 bobbies with pistol + 1 with shotgun. Thunderchicken used them as Royal Parks Constabulary in our Battle of Kew game - they all died very quickly!

I'm interested in these. I've emailed Steve at Wessex for more info.

I've had a rapid response from Steve. They are still available at £5.00 plus postage. He also sent me a pic:

Don't forget the rifles/guard/home service infantry they have.
Would be good for any VSF army.
