Painting Rubber Mats?
« on: February 18, 2024, 02:29:06 AM »
Does anyone have any experience priming and painting rubber mats? I have a bit of a runner, it's black and 98% recycled rubber so my best guess is it's old tires. The plan is to make some roads/tracks/scatter terrain with it. I'm worried that paint won't stick to it and/or its flexibility will crack the paint.

I made some roads/tracks out of a large rubber sheet I acquired. I went to a bicycle repair shop and got a load of the glue they use for puncture repairs, it's really flexible. I just lathered it on, covered it in grit, painted it with brown emulsion, dry brushed and added some flock. It's surprisingly durable and even rolls up.
