Track in the UK

Thunderchicken:
Hi all,
Can anyone help with a source of track which will be suitable for 28mm in the UK?
I'm not hot on scales so should I be looking for 'O' Guage?
Thanks in advance.

I personally use 00/H0 track.
O gauge is more expensive and not as accessible as 00 track. 0 gauge is 32mm (space between rails) 00 gauge is 16,5mm
Call yourself lucky if you get S gauge which is 22mm. Prototypical standard gauge is 1435mm (Russia, Spain and GWR used broad gauge, Japan, South Africa and Queensland use narrow gauge) Decide for yourself...

I bought a wild west train in O gauge that came with a lot of track that i painted up, pobably your cheapest bet.
Svennn:
I did a table for a comission once and used Hornby (ho/oo?) but cut the sleepers down the centre, re-spaced them apart and used grit/gravel to hide the gaps. Worked quite well and you can have it as wide or narrow as you like.

Thanks chaps, looks like I'll be scratch building or looking for cheap toys. My local hobby shop is selling 2nd hand HO track off at 50p a pop so I might experiment with it.
Svennn, the track is to run beside the canal you built for me.
