Chickamauga ORBAT
« on: March 04, 2024, 02:08:03 PM »
I'm trying to put together an ORBAT for a brigade Fire & Fury game of Chickamauga.
But I'm having trouble finding numbers for how strong each brigade was - both Union and Confederate.
Anyone have a good source for this?
If you have it in F&F terms that would be cracking, but cold hard numbers would be absolutely fine.
Cheers

It's all in both editions of the F&F Great Western Battles scenario book (which I think is now available in PDF?), if you've got access to someone with a copy.

Ah sorry, no, it's not available as a pdf yet, though there was some talk about F&F eventually going over to pdf sales.  Great Western Battles 2nd Edition is still available in print, though.

Yes, I'm aware of that book, thanks.
I'll confess that I was rather hoping a free, online, resource if I'm honest.

Bloody Big Battles has a scenario at divisional level, each base = 1,000 troops or 24 guns.

And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

I'll second that recommendation! Great details on the battle as well.

Great book, but no strengths in the OB. Just checked my copy.

I used an online reference it had approximate battalion strengths, could have been Nafziger.

99% sure this book has the unit strengths for Chickamauga as I used to own it.

I could only find an orbat for the Confederates with Nafziger without strengths.

Found it

Library of congress with returns including officers

https://www.loc.gov/resource/gdcmassbookdig.battleofchickama00unit/?st=gallery

I knew it was somewhere as I built Cleburne’s division for the battle at 1/20.

Cheers
