Looking For Crusade Transfers
« on: March 08, 2024, 03:01:44 PM »
I have the Footsore Outremer models, but my freehand painting talent is almost non-existent so I can't do the shields of the Military Orders, much less the Saracens, any justice. I think I found some good Muslim shield transfers but haven't found any good, simple crosses in red or white for the Orders.

Any suggestions?

1) Paint the shield red. Cut a strip of masking tape, & put a bit horizontal & another vertical. Spray the shield white. remove the tape.
2) Cut a narrow strip of thin card. Hold it onto the shield (vertical then horizontal) & draw either side with a pencil. Take a red gel pen & colour in the cross.
3) Invest in some transfer/decal paper for your printer. Download the shield designs then print them off.

Battleflag produce some  waterslide shield decals for a variety of the monastic orders. They are designed for the Fireforge plastics but might work for Footsore. My normal go-to provider "Little Big Men Studios" don't seem to produce Footsore "Outremer" decals.

There are varying thicknesses of masking tape readily available on the Internet and I found the 1mm perfect for doing just that on the Footsore King Richard.. Little Big Men Studios do nice generic crosses of varying sizes like in the Templars Osprey which is quite an easy solution. Hope this helps
