GNW in 6mm -- Warning: Strong Saxual Content
« on: March 11, 2024, 05:56:03 PM »
I've recently completed forces I plan to use for a Fraustadt type scenario (though I haven't been completely faithful to the OOB and have painted facings I thought looked good on the table).  I'll certainly be painting more Russians in the future, but for now I've assembled a combined Russo-Saxon force, with a Polish mounted contingent.

Figures and flags all Baccus and foot are mounted on 60x30mm with the horse on 80x40mm. Cheers!

The foot.

The Saxon dragoons and horse.

The Polish contingent.

Augustus and the guns.

And here are their Swedish nemeses.

Lastly, a couple closer in shots for good measure.

This is really impressive; I keep going back to look at the cavalry in particular, your arrangement really captured the feel of horses in motion, A+!

Those cavalry..... 8) :o :-*
And everything else too. I particularly admired the lining on the tricorne hats.
That is one beautiful army, with a great choice of basing too.

Amazing! Stunning painting!! Great to see that you have returned to your 6mm GNW project ;) It had been a while and thought they might have been relegated to the never ever shelf.
Does one spy 6mm ancients in the background? :D

fantastic! I don't think I have ever seen 6mm done better.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Thank you all very kindly.

LS - I'm amazed that you remember my early progress on these! I certainly took a long break from my first efforts to finally completing them.  And you are correct, in the background are 6mm ancients. I've decided to finish another project that had been languishing in the lead pile - Romans v Pyhrrus. These will both be roughly 3x the size of a typical DBA army, so not quite as daunting an effort as the GNW forces - and no tricorne lining to do! I'll share more of these in the proper forum once I'm further along.  Cheers!

Hej Abu,

Of course! I still reference the 6mm painting step-by-step guide that you put together a few years ago ;) I also remember that you had a project building a full size (1:1) battalion, correct?

Great looking elephants btw, I am very impressed with the wave design. Did you use a stencil? Can't wait to see more :D

Best,
LS

Hi Peter - for the life of me I can’t recall where I posted that. Perhaps @LazyStudent can point you to the right location?

Hello Abu,

phantastic painting - these are absolutely top-notch! Interesting to see, how important well painted laces of tricornes are. I guess they are the most important part of the whole miniature. Thank you for showing mate!

Cheers
