A very slow Middle Earth project.
« on: March 12, 2024, 04:31:41 PM »
Otherwise known as the project drags forever on....

The idea was to produce some orcs to look more like how I imagine middle earth orcs should look, using whatever plastic kits I could think of. Without the oathmark goblins I would have been stuck as they comprise probably 50% of the bodies. Everything else is scavenged from odd sprues of stuff. There's even some perry afghan bits in there somewhere.

I can't remember when I started this little project, definitely pre-covid, but I have reached a milestone as the marching orcs are pretty much complete. I can use them as one big horde, or break them down into 2 units of 36.

Archers are next.

They certainly do.  Well done.

Yeah, reminds me of old White Dwarf covers from the 80s, and the artwork for MERP. Very nice.

Fantastic stuff! Really captures the gritty yet slightly whimsical feel that I always associate with Middle Earth, congrats on finishing them!

Excellent! As others have said, they look like the gritty artwork orcs of the MERP covers. I really like how your conversions turned out.

Next stage, missile troops, mostly bows, but the odd sling and javelin too. Again, Oathmark bodies in the main with bits and bobs from all over the place. A couple of stock GW LOTR too, they work well enough.

All on 50mm by 50mm bases.

Excellent! The painted figures look great and the primed ones will make good additions. Your kitbashes on the missile troops are just as smooth as the ones on the spearmen.
