The same thing occurred to Lord Snapcase and I a week or so ago and we shared a few clips of these ads via WhatsApp - very nostalgic.

I somehow missed this thread.  A very impressive project - well conceived and executed.  I have all my Italian buildings still in their original packets  >:(
The only criticism is the water of Venice looks too blue!
I will make sure I keep following your posts.

Thanks for your kind comments. I agree about the colour of the water. This was my only sea mat at the time. I would like a more dirty, greeny colour, but need a 6' x 4'. Any suggestions?

it is funny - don't think I remember any ad more strongly from the '70s than that one.
perhaps other than the R Whites Lemonade one ... or Brut / Denim come to think of it ...  :D ::)

anyhow - I think you're aware of it from my thread of yesteryear (as you commented iirc), and thus must have discounted it, but just in case forgotten, - crushed velvet for the water?
I've sure there'll be greeny-blue shades available

You must remember Frank Muir and his Cadburys Fruit and Nutcase?

Crushed velvet, forgotten all about that, will have a look around, cheers.

Very nice - care to talk us through the painting on the statues? Very effective.

Doug

Thanks, Doug.

The statues are primed light grey craft paint. Then a coat of Citadel Retributor Armour. The corrosion is added with Citadel Nihilakh Oxide, I find it best to paint the Nihilakh on and then wipe it off with a cloth (it's quite thin).

The plinths are just craft paint. Black primer and undercoat. Then stippled with a medium grey and a light grey.

There yer 'ave it, Bob's yer uncle an' Fanny's yer aunt!
