gosh, yes - that board really is delightful.  :-*

rather an ironic contrast with the determindly grim-dark nature of the game in a way - but the intensity of the colour gives a subtly surrealistic sense of lunacy, which def.' is in keeping with the game's fluff, and which is really coming across as the layout grows.

brilliant.

Thank you, Bloggard. I'm thinking that maybe I should get some shots of Venice under some coloured lighting, suggestive of the Rent in the Sky.

Cheers!

Another building finished, this time the boat yard of Alfonso Soffiatore di Corno, Costruttore di Barche. Starting to create a bit of a commercial district now.

Great stuff. I love the boat under construction on the slipway.

Thank you, Doug and Sunjester.

This is L’Emporio di Gelato, run by Cosimo Ruggeri e Bernardo Buontalenti. I have no idea if late 18th century Venice had ice cream emporiums, but the 'Rule of Cool' prevails here.

Ice cream goes back at least that far (and definitely predates modern refrigeration) so you certainly couldn't rule it out!

Cheers, FramFramson and syrinx0.

Just finished a rather nice bridge, the Ponte del Lutto.

...and now, a Hulking Moroi for the Strigoi. I may have got over-excited with the blood spatters!

He s a bit scary. I think the blood spatters are very effective - not overdone at all. One of John’s team? Something will have to be done about him very quickly…!

Cheers, Doug.

Il Dottore from the Commedia dell'art (Gifted Faction).

The preponderance of Gifted in Venice is both a boon and a drawback for the leaders of the city. While they have come in useful at times for completing special tasks on behalf of the Doge, they have just as often been highly disruptive to the running of the city by startng or joining in riots, assassinating key rulers, stealing crucial documents and so on. Every faction in Venice has used these Gifted for their own needs and have also had Gifted individuals help to stop them in their mission. Usually they are found helping gangs of other factions, primarily for profit, but sometimes out of a desire to help, or to cause chaos, or even for the slaughter. Each character is a superhero in their own right, with special abilities that make them stand apart from others.

Thank you, syrinx0 and marianas_gamer.

The motto of the Gentlemen of Much-Piddling is “A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition” (Rudyard Kipling). I'm thinking, for Carnevale, it needs to be “A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, too much ammunition, or too many gondolas"!”
